Riyadh has a hot, dry climate with little rain. Summer temperatures are exacerbated by hot winds, sending the mercury up to, and beyond, 113°F (45°C). Winters, between November and April, are a little cooler, but nights can be very cold with temperatures below freezing point. A few inches of rain fall each year, mainly between January and May.
