Weather in Lanzarote in February

Is February a good time to visit Lanzarote

Dry and mild, with plenty of sunshine, February may well prove to be a comfortable winter sun month to choose a holiday in Lanzarote, but, be warned, this is the second coolest month in Lanzarote and there is the threat of dust storms which could be very unpleasant from mid-February onwards. The dust storms come from the African mainland, and are very unpredictable. It’s a gamble – you may not experience one during your holiday in Lanzarote, but if you do, be prepared to sacrifice a day or two to this weather phenomenon. For the most part, however, February in Lanzarote offers warm weather during the day, chilly nights, and the lottery of nasty dust storms!

Climate in Lanzarote in February

It is difficult to promise perfect weather in Lanzarote in February – not because there is not enough sunshine or warm temperatures, but because of the unpredictable threat of horrid dust storms! Even though it is one of the coolest months of the year, daytime temperatures normally hover around a comfortable 21°C in Lanzarote in February, with averages of a degree or two warmer in the southern and western coastal resorts.  Nights can be rather chilly though, with an average of 13°C. The sun shines radiantly on Lanzarote most days during February, for an average of eight hours a day, barring the odd passing cold front that may bring a shower or two.

The most unpleasant aspect of the weather in Lanzarote during February, however, is the periodic invasion of dust clouds from Saharan Africa, accompanied by dry heat waves when the temperature can spike to 30°C or thereabouts.
