Hi! We are staying in Corralejo in Fuerteventura late Jan, early Feb with our 3 & 5 yr olds. Any advice on weather, safety, pests, good dining, fun kid friendly places, local secrets, off-the beaten path gems? ANY info and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

We went to Correlejo 5 years ago with our then 6 month old baby and had a nice relaxing holiday. Our big recommendation would be to go to El Cotillo for a day. A sleepy fishing village with an amazing beach, clear water and a great eating shack on the beach with grilled fresh fish.

There are some good restaurants in the resort near the harbour doing tapas and traditional Spanish food so would recommend these.

Make sure you take plenty of mosquito repellant for the kids, our little one got bitten quite badly at night times.

Finally bear in mind that some of the beaches on the island have nudist parts. Always an interesting discussion point with the kids! "Mummy where has that Man's swimming costume gone?"

can anyone recommend a good cheapish but CLEAN hotel in corralejo-no cockroaches -quiet but not too far out
self catering would be fine or we would pay more for half board with nice food
and how much roughly does it cost to eat out in the evenings

Corralejo has a lot of good quality and cheap hotels and they keep the cockroaches under control, but before you book self catering or half board, check out the all inclusive deals - everything is included, so it won't cost you to eat out in the evenings, and you plan your holiday expenses. There is a local website that gives details of hotels, so check out the deals available. www.thecanaryislander.com Correlejo town has several restaurants and so they all compete for customers with special deals, so if you do decide to eat out - find the best value. But lots of choice and a great island for a holiday.

The Dunas Club is one of the cheapest yet is clean and central for all of your requirements. Book on Ryanair.com Great little bar next door serving good food and had theme nights, mexican and an Aussie B B Q. Close to Old Town and beaches as well as the harbour for the ferry to Lanzarote.
