I am interested in a trip from NY to Croatia & costa smeralda. i understand costa Smeralda is quite pricey, that said i am trying to contain costs as much as possible. Can anyone provide assistance in the planning of this vacation?

how long would you recommend in each place?

i have points with starwood and was thinking of 5 nights at CS and 6 nights in Croatia. After 4 nights, the 5th is free when cashing in SPG points. that is how i got to the 5 nights.

any recommendations on places to eat, where the locals go? do i need a car? how easy is public transportation? what are the things that must be seen in each place?

is CS worth the cost? for the same points as 2 nights in CS i can go for a week somewhere else. i am looking for a special trip and as i recently had twins i will get away only rarely.
