Weather in Tenerife in August

Is August a good time to visit Tenerife?

With temperatures peaking at the top of the island scale during August, the weather in Tenerife is hot to trot for a perfect summer holiday. With low humidity, heat tempered by cool breezes and the Atlantic sea currents, hour after hour of sunshine and brilliant blue skies, it is small wonder that Tenerife is packed with sunseekers and revelers of all ages during August – from the “bucket and spade” brigade to disco divas and perky pensioners.

Climate in Tenerife in August

Despite being on the same latitude as the Sahara Desert, the heat in Tenerife even in August, the height of the summer season, is never sweltering. During August temperatures may hit the 30°C on the odd occasion, but the days are more likely to hover at around 26-28°C, and the island nights at a comfortable 22°C or so. The most attractive aspect of Tenerife weather in August, however, is the complete absence of rain. There may now and again be cloud banks in the north and north-east of the island which let loose a light shower, but this is rare and certainly does not impact on the busy south-west coast resorts like Playa de las Americas.
